I get a lot of questions about what I use to wash my hair. The answer might come as a shock to some people, but I don't use anything. Not apple cider vinegar, not even baking soda much anymore (it's about once a month now). Literally, the only thing I do to my hair is brush it. I have had women ask me how I got started and claim that their hair is reallllly greasy when they don't wash it for a day or two. Let me tell you, I was the greasy hair queen. I was always jealous of people who could go a few days without washing and still have presentable hair. I literally had to wash mine everyday to keep from looking greasy. When I washed my hair everyday it was also thinner and flatter.
So do you wanna know how I got started?
I just stopped washing all together and let my scalp recalibrate. It took a few months to not be a greasy mess. I used to wash EVERYDAY because I thought my hair was abnormally greasy. Really, washing it everyday is what was making it excrete more grease because I kept stripping my natural oils. That, and a high
fat diet. I notice now that my hair gets greasier when I am eating more fats than usual. I used to use baking soda ever 7-10 days, but in the last several months I have only used it several times. Now, the only thing I do is brush my hair out every few days and get it wet, and it looks pretty good if you ask me. You just have to get over the first couple of months. I wore headbands a lot ;)
Before, when I was washing and using blow dryers and straighteners, my hair was dull, thin, frizzy, and flat.
Now, it's subtle natural oils make it voluminous, and wavy. No poo, no heat.
I also get asked if it smells. I usually let people sniff it out themselves and tell me. They say it doesn't, and
that's more than likely because I am eating a clean diet and don't have rotting animal carcass seeping through my pores.
I wish there was some magic formula or step by step I could give you, but as I keep reiterating, health and beauty are simple. It's not complex, xpensive, or require a lot of effort. Allowing your body to come back into it's natural, healthy state is so easy. You just stop trying. Get out of it's way, and only take in that which your body thrives on. So there you have it. I just stopped washing my hair. I brush it sometimes. Throw in some
baking soda if it makes you feel good. That is all.
