I'm not a dentist, but teeth decay and get "unhealthy," so to speak, for similar reasons the rest of the body does. Let's not forget that the body is ONE organism. We like to view it and heal it selectively, but when the body is healed, everything is healed. There is no, "Well, everything is healthy except for my thyroid." It is no different for the teeth and oral health. Contrary to popular belief, cavities and decay are not caused by sugar. Yes, things like dried fruit, especially, can stick to the teeth and develop bacteria, but sugar in and of itself is not what causes cavities. Like all other ailments and disease in the body, the most common cause of cavities is high acidity in the body. Like I have mentioned before, our bodies thrive in an alkaline environment and the SAD (Standard American Diet) is highly acidic, consisting of a lot of meat, dairy, and processed foods. When the body returns to its natural state, and becomes more alkaline, teeth are strong and packed with minerals that protect them from erosion.
Then there is the fluoride debate. If you go into any health food grocery stores, most, if not all, the toothpastes are labeled "fluoride free." So, what's up with fluoride? Again, I'm not a scientist, nor have I studied fluoride in great detail, but I take what I DO KNOW about true health and apply it. So first I will tell you what I know, then I will tell you what I have heard and what I have done a little research on. What I know is this: Humans are organic. Fluoride is, in short, a compound derived from rock crystals. You might be thinking, "rocks are organic compounds too." And sure, but would you eat rocks? If you ground up rocks into a powder and consumed them do you think it would be good for you? No, because rocks are not made for human consumption. They have a place, and it's not in our bodies. SO, humans can only absorb and assimilate that which is made for humans. It's just like when we consume cows milk. It is not made for us, it is made for cows. When we consume cows milk, the acidity is so high, our body has to draw calcium from our bones to neutralize the acid. So instead of preventing osteoporosis like we have been told, it actually takes our natural calcium from our bones and CAUSES it. The same is true for fluoride, and other acidic, non human components. This also goes for any vitamin and mineral that is derived from inorganic sources. If the source from which it comes from is not meant for humans, then your body cannot properly absorb and assimilate it. With that said, the majority of fluoride put in our water and toothpaste is not the original, naturally occurring fluoride anyway. But that's not all. There are huge theories suggesting that fluoride keeps people sick and in a stupor to dumb down the masses. I know, I know, sounds like a crazy conspiracy theory, but there is some evidence to support that fluoride has been used for just that. Some scientists have claimed it to be linked to a slew of health effects. There have also been accusations of it being used at Nazi prison camps . I have scoured the internet and read a lot of information of fluoride. At the end of the day, I have decided for myself that I will stick to my natural hygiene philosophy and forgo fluoride use and consumption the best I can.
